WOW! We are blown away by your dedication and generosity, we raised $3,000 in our first ever virtual fundraiser for the Southern Poverty Law Center. Thank you to all who contributed or who spread the word about the event.
This week's theme is all about ousting Ken Buck (or at least doing our best to get more Democrats and Progressives out to vote in his district to help beat Garner/Trump. To that end, we are trying to support candidate Ike McCorkle in hitting a fundraising goal to get more support from the DNC.
DON'T FORGET TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARY
Drop off your ballot by Tuesday, 6/30. Polls close at 7 pm. It's to late to mail in your ballot.
I HAVE 5 MINUTES NOW
Donate to the Ike McCorcke's Campaign in CO District 4
Ike McCorkle is the combat-wounded Marine veteran and nominated Democrat running against the corrupt, racist, and misogynistic Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO). Ike is fighting for more water and better trade deals for our farmers, a Green New Deal, Medicare 4 All, police demilitarization, and an end to draining forever wars.
Ken voted against every COVID-19 relief funding bill, voted against the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, is under investigation for voter fraud, and could very well be disbarred before the end of the summer.
If you cannot attend the fundraiser on Friday, donate here now. Every $10 helps.

Invite 10 Friends to Donate or Join the Fundraiser
The DAC leadership will be offering a challenge match during Ike McCorkle's Birthday fundraiser this Sunday. We met the Invisible group producing the event and it sounds like it will be a fun time and a great model for how to do a virtual fundraiser.
To invite on Facebook, open the Facebook event and mark yourself as going. Then tap the blue "Invite" button and include at least 10 friends - bonus points for inviting people from his district - see map - that covers most of Eastern Colorado from Greeley to Castle Rock to Trinidad.
To invite your friends via email, download the invite pdf and add a personal note.
Denver Action Committee, the political action group I'm involved in, is supporting a fundraiser this Sunday at 2pm MST to help beat Ken Buck. Who? Yeah, the guy who did this and said this. And much much worse. He doesn't represent Colorado and we want to help the Indivisible group in his district beat him. We will ne offering a challenge match of up to $500 for all donations during the event.
I HAVE AT LEAST AN HOUR
DONATE AND JOIN THE FUNDRAISER
Join Indivisible Rox Resistance and Ike McCorkle for us for a Beat Buck Birthday Bash! The campaign's goal is to raise $100,000 by June 30th. If we can help them accomplish this feat it unlocks a new universe of national support and endorsements. While Ken Buck is 73% percent funded by corporate PACs, they rely upon an army of grassroots supporters.
RSVP to learn more about Ike McCorkle, why he can beat Ken Buck (and maybe a bit about what's so bad about Buck). Join other like-minded voters to help Ike show Ken Buck that his seat in not as safe as he thinks. DAC Leadership will offer a Challenge Match during the fundraiser - you'll be inspired to make a donation based on some numbers that demonstrate what Buck stands for and we will match your donations!
WHEN: Sunday June 28th 2pm - 3pm MST
WHERE: Zoom Meeting ID shared upon RSVP
It feels like last week was a month ago. In that time since we sent you actions last week, we had a major victory! SB20-217 has passed both the state senate and house. Now it's on Polis' desk and it is sure to be signed.
It may not feel like much, but choosing to take even a single action on our list each week CAN create change. This week, we are focused on seeking justice as we embark on Juneteenth. See below for the actions of the week.

We did it, our first virtual meeting was a success! Here are the actions we discussed and some links to information so you can educate yourself if you were not able to attend.
ACTIONS WE CAN TAKE NOW
Support the BLM Protests. Review the slides above, anytime after 2pm there is probably a protest happening at the Denver Capitol. If you are looking for more info on protests and where to go, here are some people to follow on social media that posts updates about the protests:
@Tay Anderson has been posting things on Twitter and leading protests.
@elisabeth epps who works for CO Freedom Fund
Contact Denver Police Commissioner. Share your views directly via email to DPDListens@denvergov.org. If you are interested in joining a group led by Amen in a meeting with the police commissioner, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know.
Support SB 20-217. Take action now to contact your member house and senate representative in Colorado with this simple form. Better still, call or email them directly voicing your support.
Adopt a State for 2020. Review the information on Vote Save America and pick a state. We will send out more information about how to participate wiht DAC in the coming weeks.
Here is a review of the meeting and information so you can educate more on the topics if you were not able to attend or if you want to share them with your network of activists.
1. Reviewed the initiative from Vote Save America and battleground states. We encourage you to review and join the competition to pick a state to support virtually.
2. Reviewed Obama's "How to Make this Moment a Turning Point for Real Change"
3. Reviewed a DAC member's real experience with the protests (and how to get involved). This also includes an overview of SB 20-217 (promoting law enforcement accountability and transparency.)
4. Agreed on some actions we want to take now, recapped below. We also discussed a potential virtual fundraiser, more info to come on that soon.
Well Denver Acton Committee, its been awhile and we took a pause to regroup in the midst of the pandemic. However, after the last week we are more motivated than ever to keep this work going.
Join us for our first virtual meeting to discuss productive and positive steps we can take to change the leadership in this country in November. As Terrence Floyd, George's brother, said today at the site of his brother's murder: "Let's stop thinking that our voice don't matter and vote ... Not just for the president, but vote for the preliminaries. Vote for everybody. Educate yourself. Don't wait for somebody else to tell you who's who. Educate yourself and know who you're voting for."
Join us this Thursday at 8pm to create a plan of action to change the leadership in Colorado (Senate) and nationally (President).
